19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents his maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since March of that year.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
His retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the top level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, took control to force a third set.
Moutet defended four initial break points in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
